Kayaking Norway-Trip Description
Join us on a cultural and historical journey by kayaking in the stunning Lofoten Islands of Norway. These Islands are located in the Arctic Circle, yet because of warm ocean currents, this area is incredibly temperate compared to other areas of the same latitude. The Lofoten Islands boast 800 metre towering Granite cliffs, beautiful white sand beaches, quaint fishing villages and amazing paddling. Kayaking from one charming village to the next we’ll enjoy 3 nights of accommodation in quaint cabins and four nights camping with stunning views. Each day we will explore a historical fishing village with options to visit museums, coffee shops, and local artist shops. Each evening we will camp at a site with incredible views of the Lofoten’s, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of camp life.
The paddling is fantastic, with options to practice your rock gardening skills, or just enjoy the serenity of paddling alongside granite cliffs and through protected bays filled with hundreds of Islands. When not paddling there will be lots of opportunities to go for short walks into the hills and to explore the sights, sounds and tastes of each town. The Lofoten’s are home to a high concentraion of sea eagle, which is a common sight while kayaking through these Islands. Many other sea birds, such as the puffin, Murrelets and Murres can be seen in high concentration.
Visiting the Viking Museum is one of the highlights of this trip, allowing visitors an insight into viking life that can be experienced no where else. Preserved artifacts from ancient viking raids and travels can be seen showcased in the museum. Walk through the doors of a reconstructed viking home and feel as if you are walking back in time and place.
Come join us for an incredible eight day journey and experience the past and present of the Lofoten Islands, Norway.
